Lagos to Host 2025 Best of Nollywood Awards, Sanwo-Olu confirms

Lagos State is set to host the 2025 edition of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced via his official X handle.

The announcement confirms Lagos as the venue for the 17th edition of the prestigious event, reinforcing its status as a hub for Nigeria’s creative and entertainment industry.

Sanwo-Olu, who officially accepted the hosting rights on Sunday, August 31, at the Lagos House in Marina, described the development as an affirmation of the government’s support for the sector. He noted that Nollywood is a crucial part of Nigeria’s culture, economy, and global identity.

The governor received a delegation of Nollywood stakeholders and BON organisers, including veteran actor Segun Arinze and BON Awards founder Seun Oloketuyi. The event is scheduled to take place on December 14, 2025, at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island.

Organisers have also announced plans to attempt a Guinness World Record for the longest red carpet at the event, which promises to be one of the most memorable in the awards’ history. This marks a return for the awards to Lagos after having toured all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
