FG Declares Friday, September 5, 2025, Public Holiday

The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, on behalf of the Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The government congratulated Muslims across Nigeria and beyond on the occasion and urged the faithful to uphold the Prophet’s exemplary qualities of peace, love, humility, and compassion.

It further called on Nigerians of all religious backgrounds to use the celebration as an opportunity to pray for peace, unity, and the progress of the nation.

Eid-ul-Mawlid, observed annually in the Islamic month of Rabi’ al-Awwal, is marked with prayers, sermons, processions, and charitable activities.
