“I Am Alive and Well” – Ebenezer Obey Debunks Death Rumours

Nigerian Juju music legend, Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey, has dismissed rumours of his death and illness, describing them as “lies from the kingdom of darkness.”

In a video shared on his official Instagram page, the 83-year-old icon appeared in high spirits alongside his two sons, singing to reassure fans of his good health. The post was captioned: “Stop the rumours!!!! Ebenezer Obey is alive and well.”

Obey, who recently travelled to London for personal care, condemned the false reports that claimed he had suffered a stroke, with some even circulating fabricated images of coffins.

“Everything they have said is nothing but lies that came from the kingdom of darkness. I am alive, I am alive, says the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you very much. I don’t have a stroke. I came to London to look after myself,” he said in the video.

This is not the first time the veteran musician has had to address such speculation. Similar rumours surfaced in 2020 and again earlier this year, each time forcing him to issue clarifications.

Following his latest statement, fans and fellow entertainers have flooded his social media with messages of relief and goodwill, celebrating his resilience and faith.

Fondly called the Chief Commander, Ebenezer Obey remains one of Nigeria’s most revered musicians, with a career spanning over six decades in highlife and juju music.
