FG Condemns Israeli Airstrike in Qatar, Urges Restraint and Renewed Peace Efforts

The Federal Government of Nigeria has strongly condemned Tuesday’s Israeli airstrike in Doha, Qatar, which reportedly targeted senior Hamas figures.

In a statement issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the government warned that such actions threaten regional stability and undermine ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.

Nigeria stressed the importance of respecting national sovereignty and adhering to international law, particularly regarding cross-border military operations. “This development raises serious concerns about regional stability and the prospects for ongoing diplomatic efforts,” the statement read.

The government also commended Qatar’s pivotal role in facilitating dialogue in the Middle East and urged all parties to exercise restraint, avoid further escalation, and recommit to peace negotiations.

Extending sympathy to those affected, Nigeria reiterated its support for efforts that promote de-escalation and lasting peace. The statement further affirmed the country’s readiness to collaborate with the international community—through the United Nations and other multilateral platforms—to uphold peace, security, and the rule of law across the Middle East and beyond.
