President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hailed the coronation of former Oyo State Governor, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, describing the new monarch as “a lucky man chosen by history.”
Speaking on Friday at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, shortly after Governor Seyi Makinde officially presented the staff of office to Oba Ladoja, the President noted that the ascension of the former governor to the revered throne was not only a personal honor but also a historic moment for the people of Ibadan and the Yoruba nation.
Tinubu commended the unique and peaceful succession system of the Olubadan stool, which, he said, had continued to serve as a model for traditional leadership across Nigeria. He further expressed optimism that Oba Ladoja’s blend of political experience and traditional authority would bring progress, unity, and renewed pride to Ibadanland.
The President also congratulated Governor Makinde and the people of Oyo State for preserving the city’s cultural legacy through the orderly and dignified coronation process.
