LASG Honours Outstanding Educators and Students at Education District VI Merit Awards

The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to educational excellence by recognising exceptional educators, students, and staff in Education District VI at the 19th Annual Merit Award Ceremony held at Ikeja Senior Grammar School, Oshodi.

Themed “Rewarding Excellence”, the event celebrated top achievers across multiple categories including Best Principal, Teacher, School, Student, Non-Teaching Staff, Quality Assurance Officer, District Officer, Heads of Department, NGOs, and Alumni Associations making significant contributions to education in the district.

Special recognition was also given to educators who have creatively integrated technology into teaching, in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus agenda.

Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Tolani Alli-Balogun, noted that the awards serve as a strong motivator for proactive teaching and learning.

“These recognitions show our teachers and students that their efforts are seen, valued, and rewarded,” he said.

Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Education District VI, Mrs. Mojisola Christiana Yusuff, disclosed that 42 students and staff from 106 schools were honoured for their outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements.

“Teaching is not just a profession, it is service, sacrifice, and inspiration,” she remarked.

Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Daniel Ayokanmi, commended the awardees and urged them to sustain their efforts in promoting academic excellence.

The ceremony ended with the presentation of awards, drawing applause and admiration from attendees.
