Lagos Teacher, Sets Guinness World Record with Historic Teachers’ Conference

A Lagos-based education advocate, Oluwaseyi Anifowose, has officially secured a Guinness World Record for hosting the largest gathering of teachers in the world. The milestone was achieved during the “Let There Be Teachers Conference 2025”, held in Lagos.

Speaking to the press, Anifowose explained that the initiative was born out of a conviction to create a global platform that highlights the realities and challenges confronting teachers.

According to reports by NTA News, about 90 percent of the attendees were teachers from Lagos State, as limited funding made it difficult to bring in participants from across Nigeria as initially planned.

Far beyond a record-breaking attempt, the event was described as a bold call to action — one that seeks to celebrate teachers, amplify their voices, and push education stakeholders towards stronger reforms in the sector.

Anifowose, who has several years of experience in teacher training and capacity development, received confirmation of the record via a virtual presentation. However, Guinness World Records has yet to publish the achievement on its official social media platforms.
