
The Acting Mayor of Agege Local Government, Hon. Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa, yesterday, September 29, 2025, met with the contractors handling the ongoing reconstruction of the MKO Abiola Market, Urban Shelter, to assess progress and ensure the project is delivered within schedule.
Hon. Obasa emphasized that the project goes beyond building new market stalls; it is about creating a modern, safe, and conducive environment for traders, boosting commerce, and improving the socio-economic landscape of Agege. He urged the contractors to uphold quality standards and meet the agreed timelines without compromising on safety or functionality.
Reiterating the administrationโs development vision, the Acting Mayor declared; โTogether, we remain focused on development that truly serves our people. The work continues, towards a progressive Agege.โ
When completed, the MKO Abiola Market will offer modernized facilities that address issues of overcrowding, enhance sanitation, and provide sustainable opportunities for economic growth. The project is also expected to create jobs and improve the ease of doing business in the community.
With the Acting Mayor during the review session was the Council Manager, Mr. Adesina Sogo Osikoya, who stressed the importance of synergy between government, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure a successful outcome.
