Kwara Govt urges vigilance, limited movt as security forces escalate attacks on kidnappers’ hideouts

The Kwara State Government has advised residents in parts of the state to remain vigilant and restrict non-essential movements as security operations intensify against kidnappers in border communities.

In a statement on Wednesday, Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, said the advisory particularly applies to residents of Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Oke Ero, and Irepodun local government areas, where fleeing kidnappers may attempt to infiltrate.

“We urge people to be very vigilant and limit their movements to only very necessary routines. This is to avoid being caught unawares as the kidnappers are fleeing their hideouts. We do not want law-abiding citizens to be affected,” the statement read.

Olukoju noted that the advisory was prompted by intensified raids by combined security forces in border towns between Kogi and Kwara, where criminal elements have been operating.

While acknowledging the temporary inconveniences that limited movement may cause, she commended security agencies for their renewed efforts to flush out kidnappers from the forests.

“We commend the security forces for the renewed efforts to rout out the criminals and charge them to continue until they are totally neutralised and flushed out of our forests,” she added.
