Sanwo-Olu Commissions 420 New Homes in Badagry, Flags Off Second Phase of Ajara Housing Scheme

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commissioned the first phase of the Ajara Housing Scheme in Badagry, delivering 420 new homes to Lagos residents as part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to expand affordable housing across the state.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, the governor said the project—initially stalled for several years—was revived and completed under his leadership after resolving long-standing administrative and structural challenges.

“When we came in, we made a commitment to complete all inherited projects that benefit our people. I’m proud to say this estate is the 24th housing project delivered by our administration,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

The Ajara Housing Scheme, developed with a focus on quality, durability, and comfort, is designed to enhance living standards for residents in Badagry and its environs. According to the governor, the newly commissioned estate marks another milestone in the state’s drive to address the housing deficit while promoting balanced regional development.

In addition to the completed units, Sanwo-Olu also launched the second phase of the scheme, which will provide over 800 additional housing units upon completion.

The governor highlighted Badagry’s transformation through ongoing investments in roads, healthcare, education, and housing, describing the region as a vital part of the state’s broader development blueprint.

“Badagry continues to grow through our investments in infrastructure and human capital. Together, we are shaping a Greater Lagos, one community at a time,” he added.

The Ajara project forms part of the Lagos State Government’s Greater Lagos Housing Initiative, which aims to deliver inclusive urban renewal and expand access to affordable housing for middle- and low-income earners across the state.
