In a major stride toward strengthening the state’s educational infrastructure and fostering academic excellence, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, will officially commission the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Library Complex at the Lagos State University (LASU) Main Campus, Ojo, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. prompt.
The new library complex — named in honour of the Governor — stands as a symbol of Lagos State’s unwavering commitment to advancing education through technology, innovation, and inclusive access to knowledge. The facility is a multi-level, ultra-modern structure designed to meet global academic standards, featuring digital research hubs, e-learning laboratories, smart classrooms, multimedia centres, and serene study areas tailored to meet the needs of both students and faculty members.
According to LASU management, the new library will serve as a digital knowledge hub that integrates conventional learning with cutting-edge technology, giving students real-time access to online academic journals, global research databases, and collaborative learning tools. The initiative aligns with the Governor’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, which prioritizes education and technology as critical drivers of sustainable development in Lagos State.
Speaking ahead of the commissioning, university authorities described the project as “a milestone achievement that will redefine academic engagement, promote innovative research, and elevate LASU’s global competitiveness.”
The event is expected to draw key dignitaries from the Lagos State Government, the academic community, and the private sector. The entire university community has been cordially invited to attend what promises to be a landmark moment in LASU’s history.
The commissioning of the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Library Complex reinforces Governor Sanwo-Olu’s broader vision to transform Lagos into a knowledge-driven economy by equipping institutions with the resources and infrastructure needed to nurture the next generation of innovators and leaders.
