The Federal Ministry of Education has denied knowledge of any sponsorship request for a 15-year-old student purportedly selected to represent Nigeria at the International Mathematics Olympiad in China.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Boriowo Folasade, said the Ministry had no record or correspondence indicating any such request from a recognised institution or individual.
“The Federal Ministry of Education wishes to state clearly that it is not aware of the report circulating online regarding a supposed sponsorship request for a 15-year-old student said to have qualified to represent Nigeria at the International Mathematics Olympiad in China,” the statement read.
Folasade advised members of the public to disregard unverified reports and to always confirm all education-related matters through the Ministry’s official communication channels.
She added that the Ministry remains committed to supporting and encouraging exceptional students through due process and transparent procedures.
