From African Giant to No Sign of Weakness: Burna Boy Bags 7th Consecutive Grammy Nod

Nigerian megastar Burna Boy has once again etched his name in music history, earning his seventh consecutive Grammy nomination with his latest album, No Sign of Weakness, in the Best Global Music Album category for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

The announcement by the Recording Academy on Friday cements Burna Boy’s position as one of Africa’s most consistent and globally recognized artists, maintaining a Grammy presence every year since 2019 — an unprecedented streak for any African act.

Released on July 11, 2025, via Spaceship/Bad Habit/Atlantic Records, No Sign of Weakness marks Burna Boy’s eighth studio project, blending his signature Afrofusion style with elements of reggae, dancehall, and global pop. The 14-track album features collaborations with international stars Travis Scott, Mick Jagger, Stromae, and Shaboozey, reflecting Burna’s boundary-pushing creativity and global appeal.

Critics have hailed the album as one of his most mature works yet, weaving together themes of resilience, identity, and cultural pride. The nomination adds to a long line of Grammy recognitions that began with African Giant (2020), followed by Twice As Tall (2021) — which won him his first Grammy — and continued through Love, Damini (2023) and several high-profile features and performances.

Reacting to the milestone on X (formerly Twitter), Burna Boy wrote:

“Grateful for the journey. Grateful for the sound. No sign of weakness.”

Industry observers say the seven-year streak underscores Burna Boy’s ability to evolve while keeping his African roots at the core of his sound — a feat that has inspired a new generation of artists across the continent.

The 2026 Grammy Awards will take place early next year in Los Angeles, where Burna Boy will look to add another golden gramophone to his growing legacy.
