Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s 2023 governorship candidate in Lagos State, has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he called a premature commissioning of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, which he says is less than five percent completed.
The 700-kilometre project is designed to begin from Victoria Island in Lagos and end in Calabar. However, Rhodes-Vivour said the President’s claim that 30 kilometres of the road had been completed was misleading.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Rhodes-Vivour said it was disappointing for the administration to hold a commissioning ceremony for a project that is still in its early stages.
“It is shameful to roll out the drums for a project that is less than five percent complete,” he wrote. “Even worse, the administration continues to spread false information about completing 30 kilometres.”
He also compared the situation to a recent incident involving the finance minister, whom he accused of presenting inaccurate data abroad, data that was later contradicted by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Rhodes-Vivour concluded by saying the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) focuses too much on politics and propaganda, which he believes has contributed to worsening economic conditions for Nigerians.
