Lagos State Scholarship Application Set to  Close Today

The Lagos State Scholarship Board will close applications for its annual bursary and scholarship awards today June 13, drawing a close to the widely anticipated process that supports thousands of Lagos indigenes.

The scheme, which is open exclusively to indigenes of Lagos State, provides financial support to students enrolled in government-approved tertiary institutions across Nigeria. It covers bursaries for undergraduates, Law School and Maritime Academy students, as well as merit-based scholarships for those in undergraduate, master’s, and PhD programmes.

In recent years, interest in the scheme has grown increasingly. The initiative supports both students with high academic performance requiring a minimum CGPA of 3.5 or Second Class Upper and those facing financial hardship.

Applicants must be registered indigene of Lagos State and enrolled in accredited Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Eligibible students are required to provide:

  • Evidence of indigeneship (Oba’s & Local Government Council letters)
  • Admission letter and student ID card
  • Birth certificate, academic certificates, and JAMB result slip
  • LASSRA ID card
  • Copy of payment receipt and downloaded application form
  • Additional relevant documents (e.g., for postgraduate applicants)

Applicants are required to visit https://portal.lagosscholarship.org to complete their applications or make corrections before the portal closes by midnight.

The Board emphasized that only validate applications will be processed. Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.

The next phase of the application process is expected to include shortlisting, screening, and disbursement of funds over the coming months.
