The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has disbursed ₦250 million to 500 women in Bauchi State as part of her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation. Each beneficiary received ₦50,000 to either start or expand their businesses.
The event, held in Bauchi on Saturday, was attended by the Governor’s wife, Aisha Mohammed, who represented the First Lady. In her message, Mrs. Tinubu stressed the importance of women’s empowerment, noting that when women are empowered, households, communities, and nations also thrive.
The initiative is designed to reach 18,500 women nationwide, covering all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In addition to individual grants, women’s groups in Bauchi also benefited:
- 21 groups received ₦300,000 each, amounting to ₦6.3 million.
- Each group was also given five bags of rice, totaling 125 bags.
The Renewed Hope Initiative, according to the First Lady, is focused on driving entrepreneurship, resilience, and sustainable community development across the country.
