
In a decisive effort to sharpen military operations and strengthen leadership in Nigeria’s ongoing fight against insecurity, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the redeployment of several senior officers across strategic commands and training institutions.
The sweeping changes, announced by Acting Army Spokesperson Lt.-Col. Onyinyechi Anele, involve the reassignment of key positions including General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), Brigade Commanders, and heads of key Army training institutions.
The redeployment is aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness, tightening command structures, and injecting fresh momentum into ongoing military campaigns across the country.
Key Appointments Include:
Maj.-Gen. A. A. Adeyinka – Chief of Logistics (Army)
Maj.-Gen. A. A. Adekeye – Chief of Personnel Management
Maj.-Gen. A. A. Idris – Chief of Military Intelligence
Maj.-Gen. M. O. Erebulu – Provost Marshal
Maj.-Gen. T. B. Ugiagbe – Chief of Standards and Evaluation
In the field commands:
Maj.-Gen. A. S. M. Wase has been appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division and Commander, Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
Maj.-Gen. C. R. Nnebeife will now lead 2 Division and Sector 3 of the Joint Task Force, Operation FOREST YAKI.
Training Schools See New Leadership:
Maj.-Gen. A. J. Aliyu – Commandant, Nigerian Army Ordnance School
Maj.-Gen. K. O. Osemwegie – Commandant, Army Signal School
Maj.-Gen. A. C. Adetoba – Commandant, Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management
Maj.-Gen. M. O. Ihanuwaze – Commandant, Nigerian Army Finance School and Administration
Additionally, Brigadier Generals including M. Jimoh, N. E. Okoloagu, and A. A. Bello have been posted to frontline brigades and garrisons in the North West and South-South regions.
Addressing the new appointees, Lt.-Gen. Oluyede urged them to bring renewed energy and commitment to the mission of defeating terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats across Nigeria. He also reaffirmed the Army’s continued focus on troop welfare and strategic readiness.
The redeployment marks one of the most significant command overhauls under Lt.-Gen. Oluyede’s leadership and is being widely interpreted as a strategic move to reinforce the Army’s capabilities and reinvigorate its command structure amid persistent security challenges.
