APC Slams El-Rufai Over Criticism of Tinubu Administration

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following his recent comments against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing him as a “poster child of bad governance and failed leadership.”

El-Rufai, while speaking at a political event in Sokoto over the weekend, accused the Tinubu administration of incompetence, nepotism, and poor performance, stating that the government does not deserve a second term.

In response, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, issued a statement on Monday, condemning the remarks and describing them as the outburst of “a waspish politician,” allegedly frustrated by his exclusion from the federal cabinet.

The party accused El-Rufai of hypocrisy, noting that he once advocated for fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate reforms—key policies now being implemented by the Tinubu administration—but is now attacking those same reforms.

“El-Rufai and his allies offer no credible policy alternatives, only inflated egos, entitlement, and hidden political ambitions,” the statement read. “If they believe the subsidy should return, let them explain how they intend to fund it without crippling the nation’s economy.”

The APC also criticized El-Rufai’s new alliance with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling the group “confused, rudderless, and pitiful.” The party alleged that El-Rufai and his allies are plotting to disrupt the power rotation agreement by positioning former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for the 2027 presidency.

Reaffirming its support for President Tinubu, the APC cited economic and governance achievements, including improvements in agriculture, infrastructure, oil production, student loans, defense, and power supply. It also highlighted declining inflation, growing investor confidence, and gains in the stock market as indicators of progress under the current administration.

The party further criticized El-Rufai’s legacy as governor, accusing him of marginalizing Southern Kaduna communities, deepening sectarian divides, and leaving behind a ₦284 billion debt.

“El-Rufai’s accusations of clannishness are baseless and ironic, given his own divisive record,” the statement added.

The APC concluded by expressing confidence in Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and stated that Nigerians would renew his mandate in 2027 to build on the achievements of his first term.
