Abubakar Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Announcing his defection in Abuja on Wednesday, Abubakar pledged total loyalty to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and declared his support for the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Tinubu’s second-term bid.
He also directed members of his political support group to align with the APC, describing the move as a strategic decision driven by his belief in the president’s leadership and vision for Nigeria.
APC leaders welcomed the defection, describing it as a significant political boost ahead of the 2027 general elections.
