
Kebbi State — Armed men have abducted the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Samaila Bagudu, in Bagudu Local Government Area of the state.
According to local sources, the assailants stormed Bagudu town on Friday night, shooting sporadically to instill fear among residents. The lawmaker was reportedly seized shortly after he concluded prayers and was on his way home from the mosque.
Details surrounding the attack remain sketchy, but eyewitnesses said the operation lasted several minutes before the gunmen escaped with their victim to an unknown destination.
Security operatives have reportedly launched a manhunt to rescue the abducted Deputy Speaker and apprehend the perpetrators.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kebbi State Police Command and the state government are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
