The crescent moon marking the beginning of Ramadan 1447 AH has been officially sighted in Saudi Arabia, signaling the start of the holy month from the evening of Tuesday, with Wednesday, 18th February 2026 confirmed as the first day of fasting.

According to Haramain, the announcement followed verified moon sightings across the Kingdom. The platform stated that the blessed month has begun and prayed for Allah’s acceptance of believers’ fasting, night prayers, and righteous deeds.

In a similar confirmation, the Saudi Press Agency also announced that Wednesday marks the first day of Ramadan, urging Muslims to embrace the sacred period of worship, reflection, and devotion.

Neighboring Gulf nations — Oman, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates — have likewise declared the commencement of Ramadan following confirmed moon sightings.

Meanwhile, Muslims in Nigeria await the official announcement from the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who will confirm the start of Ramadan in the country based on local moon sighting reports.

May Allah accept our fasting, prayers, and good deeds, and allow us to witness the blessings of this sacred month. Ameen.
