Davido Donates ₦3m to ‘Baddy of Lagos’ for Leg Surgery, Expands Philanthropy Across Borders

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Davido has once again shown his heart of gold, donating ₦3 million to a popular social media user, David Obadiah — widely known on X (formerly Twitter) as “Baddy of Lagos” — to assist with his corrective leg surgery.

Baddy had earlier launched a crowdfunding appeal for his bow-leg correction procedure, seeking ₦18.3 million. The unexpected intervention by Davido sparked a wave of gratitude online.

“Jesus! @davido sent me ₦3m for my correctional surgery. God bless you sir… my idolo,” Baddy tweeted, overwhelmed by the gesture.

But the generosity didn’t stop there. Davido also gifted ₦5 million to the handler of one of his fan pages, reportedly to help them afford a new hairstyle — an act that stunned fans and further cemented his reputation for random acts of kindness.

Extending his goodwill beyond Nigeria’s borders, the award-winning artist pledged $5,000 to a Ghanaian TikToker who delivered a flawless cover of his hit song With You, in what many described as a symbolic reward for creativity and loyalty.

Davido’s philanthropic streak is not new. In November 2023, he marked his 32nd birthday by pledging ₦300 million to orphanages and rehabilitation centers focused on drug abuse recovery. This followed an earlier ₦237 million donation in 2021 to 424 orphanages across the country, and another ₦200 million disbursed in July 2023 to reach over 13,000 children.

These charitable efforts are coordinated through the Davido Adeleke Foundation, established in 2022 to support vulnerable children and foster long-term social development.

From lifting spirits online to transforming lives offline, Davido continues to leverage his platform not only for global music domination — but also for purposeful impact.
