The Federal Government has announced that the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be conducted entirely through Computer-Based Testing (CBT) starting in 2026.
Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, described the initiative as a major milestone in Nigeria’s education reform agenda, noting that it will enhance exam credibility, reduce malpractice, and equip students with essential digital skills.
Also speaking, the Head of the Nigeria National Office of WAEC, Dr. Amos Dangut, revealed that the council successfully piloted CBT with private candidates in 2024. He added that the nationwide rollout will be supported with mock sessions and practice platforms to ensure students are adequately prepared.
The Federal Government and the National Assembly have both pledged their commitment to providing the necessary support to guarantee a smooth and inclusive transition.
