JUST IN: EFCC Probes Two Suspects Over Undeclared $6,180 and £53,415 Seized at Lagos Airport

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an investigation into two suspects apprehended for allegedly attempting to ferry undeclared foreign currency through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

According to the anti-graft agency, the suspects were intercepted with a combined total of $6,180 and £53,415 in cash, which they failed to declare in accordance with Nigeria’s financial regulations governing cross-border movement of currency.

EFCC operatives said preliminary findings suggest the funds may be linked to money laundering activities. The suspects are currently being interrogated while further investigations are underway to determine the source and intended destination of the funds.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to enforcing all laws against illicit financial flows and urged travelers to comply with mandatory currency declaration requirements.
