
The Lagos State Government has officially commenced the transfer process for students seeking admission into Junior Secondary School II (JS II) and Senior Secondary School I (SS I) in public schools for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to a public notice issued by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the transfer exercise will run from Thursday, August 7th to Friday, August 29th, 2025.
Application Guidelines
Interested applicants are required to submit a written application to the Basic Education Services Department (Room 507) at the Ministry’s headquarters. The application must clearly state:
- Candidate’s full name
- Previous school
- Preferred school of transfer
- Gender
- Age
- State of origin
Required Documents
Applicants must attach the following documents:
- Passport photograph
- Birth certificate
- JS2 applicants: 2nd & 3rd term results
- SS1 applicants: 1st & 2nd term results, plus BECE registration number or result
The ministry emphasized that transfers will be subject to available vacancies in each school and class.
Payment Process
Parents and guardians are to generate an individual payer ID through:
- https://revenue.lagosstate.gov.ng/
- Any branch of Lagos Inland Revenue Service (LIRS)
- Finance and Accounts Department (Room 517), Block 5, Ministry of Education
Fees for the transfer application are as follows:
- Public to Public (JS2 & SS1): ₦5,000
- Private to Public (JS2): ₦10,000
- Private to Public (SS1): ₦20,000
Applicants are required to complete payment at the Finance Department and submit two copies of the payment receipt to Room 507.
Important Notes
- Transfer is not automatic
- Bulk submission of applications is not allowed
