The Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) has announced plans to commence a renewed statewide grassroots awareness campaign across all Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) to deepen residents’ registration in Lagos State.
The sensitisation drive is aimed at reinforcing the importance of resident registration for all Lagos residents, including newborns, while engaging community stakeholders on data privacy, security and the accessibility of the registration process.
LASRRA explained that although similar awareness campaigns have been carried out in the past, the Agency considers it necessary to once again take the message directly to the grassroots in what it described as “LASRRA Evangelism.” The renewed effort is designed to ensure that the Lagos State Government’s objective of achieving comprehensive and accurate residents’ data is fully understood and embraced.
According to the Agency, the campaign is strategic rather than punitive, targeted at building a reliable and inclusive residents’ database that reflects the true demographics of Lagos State and supports the vision of a smart, inclusive and globally competitive megacity.

As part of the renewed engagement, the General Manager of LASRRA, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, alongside heads of the Registration Department and Public Affairs Unit, recently visited Isolo Local Council Development Area on Friday, January 23. The team held a strategic meeting with the LCDA Chairman, Otunba Adebayo Olasoju, and Community Development Association (CDA) chairmen within the area.
Speaking at the meeting, Adebiyi-Abiola said the sensitisation tour would address misconceptions surrounding resident registration, reassure residents about data privacy and security, and highlight the ease and accessibility of the LASRRA registration process. She encouraged residents to utilise registration points within their communities and view the Lagos State Resident Identity Card as a vital tool for identification and access to government services.
She emphasised that registering every resident—from newborns to adults—is critical for effective governance, accurate planning, improved service delivery and enhanced security across the state.
Following the engagement with CDA chairmen, the LASRRA team also held an interactive session with market women in Isolo, where they explained the benefits of registration, addressed concerns and encouraged them to ensure that they and members of their households are registered on the LASRRA database.
Reaffirming the Agency’s commitment, LASRRA said it will continue to collaborate closely with traditional rulers, community leaders, market associations and local government authorities to ensure that no resident is left behind.
“Lagos is a fast-growing megacity, and accurate resident data is no longer optional. It is critical for security, planning and effective service delivery,” Adebiyi-Abiola stated.
In his remarks, Otunba Olasoju urged residents, particularly market women, to take the exercise seriously, noting that access to empowerment and social intervention programmes would be tied to registration on the LASRRA database.
The sensitisation exercise will be rolled out in phases across all LGAs and LCDAs, featuring continuous community engagement and on-the-spot registration to make the process seamless and accessible for residents.
