The Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has arrested several cart pushers for engaging in illegal waste dumping along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway in the Ojo area of the state.

The enforcement action followed intensified surveillance and monitoring activities by LAWMA officials, aimed at curbing indiscriminate disposal of refuse on major roads and public spaces. According to the Authority, waste disposal through unregulated handlers such as cart pushers is illegal and poses serious environmental and public health risks.
LAWMA noted that illegal dumping continues to be a major challenge in Lagos, largely driven by residents who patronise unauthorised waste collectors instead of registered Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators.
The Authority urged residents to desist from using cart pushers for waste disposal and to strictly comply with approved waste management guidelines to keep the environment clean and safe.

LAWMA further warned that its surveillance and enforcement operations are ongoing across the state, stressing that anyone caught engaging in illegal dumping or patronising unregistered waste handlers will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
