Abba Atiku, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that no political party or individual can defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking after formally joining the ruling party, Abba Atiku said President Tinubu’s leadership, political experience, and ongoing reforms have positioned him strongly ahead of the next general election. According to him, the APC remains the most formidable political force in the country.
He noted that his decision to join the APC was based on conviction and belief in the party’s direction, stressing that the Tinubu administration is laying a solid foundation for national growth and stability.
Abba Atiku’s defection is seen by political observers as a significant development, given his family background and the longstanding political rivalry between President Tinubu and his father, Atiku Abubakar.
The move has continued to generate reactions across political circles as alignments and realignments gradually begin ahead of the 2027 polls.
