Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo‑Olu, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, officially commissioned Isokan 106.7 FM—the first-ever local government–owned radio station in Nigeria—established by the Mushin Local Government Area. The inauguration took place at the council’s newly completed facilities on Oliyide Street, Mushin, alongside other legacy projects led by Chairman Hon. Emmanuel Olanrewaju Bamigboye.
Sanwo‑Olu praised the initiative as “laudable and worthy of emulation,” stressing the importance of effective government communication with citizens. He highlighted Mushin’s consolidation of federal agencies in a central location and the construction of infrastructure including roads and markets as tangible signs of progress under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) .
In his remarks, the governor encouraged all residents to register for their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) when the registration process begins, urging them to mobilize around the APC’s mandate and expand civic participation ahead of the 2027 election cycle .
At the ceremony, Mushin APC Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi disclosed that the local government boasts 547 polling units, projecting the party’s vote count at about 136,000—an estimate founded on a target of 250 votes per unit. He appealed to residents to secure PVCs and capitalize on the opportunity to make their votes count in future elections.
Former senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, who attended the event, emphasized the value of expert advice and collaborative governance, while Chief of Staff Tayo Ayinde reaffirmed that the radio station and associated projects align with Lagos State’s THEMES Plus Agenda, which prioritizes infrastructure, sustainability, and citizen inclusion.

Chairman Emmanuel Bamigboye urged Mushin residents to take ownership of these public amenities, pledging that his administration will sustain momentum and continue delivering transformative community projects that spur inclusion, growth, and civic engagement.
