
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated that maintaining peace and security across Lagos remains a top priority of his administration.
The governor made this known after a meeting of the State Security Council, where critical discussions were held on the state’s security situation and strategies to sustain safety across the metropolis.
In a post on his Facebook page, Sanwo-Olu said the meeting provided an opportunity to assess current realities and align security operations with emerging challenges.
“Today, I met with the State Security Council to take a closer look at our security situation and ensure we are responding with clarity and good judgment,” he wrote.
He stressed that security is non-negotiable, noting that collaboration among security agencies and stakeholders remains key to safeguarding lives and property.
“Protecting the peace of Lagos is non-negotiable. I value the honest conversations around the table and the shared commitment to protecting the peace of our state. I remain committed to the safety and security of all Lagosians,” the governor added.
A statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, revealed that key government and security officials were in attendance at the meeting.
They include the Secretary to the State Government, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin; Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Ayo Ogunsan; Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh; Commander of the 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Ayokunle Owolabi; Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT, Commodore Paul Nimmyel; Commander of the Nigerian Air Force 651 Base Support Group, Group Captain M. A. Imam; a representative of the Department of State Services (DSS), Director A. B. Alade; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Tayo Ayinde, and the Governor’s Security Officer, CSP Fagbemi Adekunle.
According to Omotoso, the governor expressed satisfaction with the security reports presented and directed all agencies to remain proactive in preserving peace across the state.
He further reassured residents and visitors that the festive season would be peaceful.
“The governor assured Lagosians and visitors that the Yuletide will be a season of goodwill and safety,” the commissioner stated.
