Sanwo-Olu Welcomes Oluremi Tinubu as Lagos Hosts First Lady’s Empowerment Drive

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday formally received Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, during her first official visit to the state.

According to a statement released on the Governor’s verified Facebook page, the First Lady’s itinerary includes the presentation of empowerment items to over 1,000 women at the State House, Alausa, Ikeja, as well as the inauguration of the Lagos Industrial Leather Hub in Matori, Mushin—touted as the largest of its kind in West Africa.

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed delight at hosting Senator Tinubu, noting that her initiatives continue to bring “hope and practical support to those who need them most.”

“It was a pleasure to receive and welcome the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, on her first official visit to Lagos,” the Governor wrote.

He urged Lagosians to warmly embrace the First Lady, describing her visit as a strong testament to her commitment to the welfare of women, children, and families across the country.

The inauguration of the leather hub is projected to strengthen Lagos State’s industrial capacity and expand opportunities for artisans and entrepreneurs in the leather and fashion industry.

Senator Tinubu’s empowerment drive also reinforces her long-standing advocacy for economic inclusion and family welfare, aligning with the state’s values of unity, inclusion, and sustainable development.
