Tinubu Appoints New Service Chiefs, Reshuffles Military Leadership to Bolster National Security

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved key changes in the hierarchy of Nigeria’s Armed Forces as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s national security architecture.

Under the new appointments, General Olufemi Oluyede becomes the Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General W. Shaibu takes over as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke is now the Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas assumes office as the Chief of Naval Staff.

The President also announced that Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye will continue in his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

President Tinubu expressed gratitude to General Christopher Musa and the outgoing Service Chiefs for their selfless service and leadership. He charged the new military chiefs to uphold professionalism, vigilance, and unity as they steer the Armed Forces in service to the nation.

“I charge the new Service Chiefs to deepen professionalism, vigilance, and unity within our Armed Forces as they serve our nation with honour,” the President said.
