President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed that all the schoolgirls abducted in the recent attack in Kebbi State have been safely rescued, praising the swift and coordinated efforts of Nigeria’s security forces.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the President commended the bravery and resilience of the affected parents and communities, acknowledging their strength throughout the difficult period.
Responding to the spate of kidnappings and terrorist activities across parts of the North, President Tinubu announced a comprehensive security cordon over the forests in Kwara State. The directive mandates the Nigerian Air Force to sustain continuous aerial surveillance over remote terrains while synchronising operations with ground troops to “identify, isolate, disrupt, and neutralise all hostile elements.”
The security sweep will also cover the Kebbi and Niger corridors, areas that have recently experienced heightened criminal activity.
President Tinubu further urged local communities to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements, stressing that civilian cooperation remains essential to the success of ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding every Nigerian community and ensuring the restoration of peace across all affected regions.
